Nicholas
Hawes, a BFA medical illustrations major from the
Cleveland
Institute of Art, created
original illustrations for many of ATL's training and outreach products
and presentations. Nick's BFA thesis on the subject of noise-induced
hearing loss resulted in two 17-foot long murals that now hang outside
the Audiology and Hearing Conservation Clinic at NASA Johnson Space
Center. These murals, which depict the physiological effects of noise-induced
hearing loss on the inner ear, are used in hearing conservation-related
training for flight crews and flight medicine professionals.
