FSDC-3
FSDC-3 Logo The Fiber Supported Droplet Combustion Investigation 3 (FSDC-3) is a combustion experiment whose purpose is to investigate the combustion of single droplets in either quiescent or slow forced flow conditions. The results from the FSDC-3 investigation will offer fundamental insight into the dynamics of multi-component combustion in quiescent and forced flow conditions, as well as in formation and effects of soot. These data will help verify existing models, and will allow for improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and improved space craft fire safety through improved understanding of combustion processes.

The purpose of this test was to measure the acoustic emission levels of FSDC-3 for purposes of comparison with the noise emission limits Microgravity Glovebox experiments.
